Expanding access to culturally rooted mental health and wellness

Our work

Empower healers. Expand access. Create change.

At Our Mental Health Collective, our work centers on removing barriers that prevent marginalized communities from receiving the mental health care they deserve. We believe healing must be culturally grounded, identity-affirming, and accessible to everyone—especially those historically excluded from traditional systems. We expand access by increasing the availability of culturally responsive clinicians and wellness providers, building pathways for BIPOC individuals to enter the profession, and ensuring that care is financially, linguistically, and geographically reachable. Through our statewide directory, bilingual programs, community-centered events, healing workshops, partnerships with cultural hubs, and on-the-ground support in trusted spaces, we bring care directly to where people already gather, live, and feel safe.

Circular system of care

Our work also focuses on reducing systemic barriers that keep communities from healing. We invest in clinicians of color through training, funding, mentorship, and professional development—strengthening representation across the field and ensuring that communities can access providers who reflect their identities, understand their lived experiences, and honor their cultural wisdom. As more BIPOC clinicians thrive, so do the communities they serve.

By addressing inequity at its roots, expanding culturally competent services, and ensuring communities have the tools, networks, and providers they need, Our Mental Health Collective is building a future where care is not a privilege, but a right—created with, by, and for the people it’s meant to serve.

Who we serve

Community

We serve the broader community by increasing access to mental health and wellness services. Through our statewide directory, mental health fairs, partnerships, and a developing Community Mental Health Fund, we work to ensure individuals facing financial or systemic barriers can be connected to affirming clinicians, pro bono support, and sliding-scale care. Our goal is to build community-led pathways to healing and ensure everyone has access to the support they deserve.

Students

We support students preparing to enter the mental health and wellness field by offering mentorship, skill-building opportunities, and professional exposure. Our goal is to bridge the gap between education and practice—helping emerging leaders develop confidence, competence, and a clear path toward meaningful careers.

Recent graduates & early-career clinicians

We serve recent graduates, limited license professionals, and newly licensed providers as they transition into the field. Through mentorship, advanced training, and peer connection, we help them strengthen their clinical identity, continue building their skills, and establish a strong foundation for long-term success

Solo practitioners

We support solo clinicians and wellness providers who are navigating private practice independently. By offering business guidance, operational tools, client development support, and connection to a professional community, we help them build sustainable, ethical, and culturally grounded practices.

Group practice wwners

We assist group practice owners seeking to expand or strengthen their organizations. We provide insights on practice management, operational sustainability, culturally responsive care models, and collective leadership—helping them build thriving, values-aligned environments for both clients and staff

Committees

Our committees were created to ensure that the voices, needs, and lived experiences of our diverse communities directly shape OMHC’s work. Each committee focuses on a unique area of impact — from cultural identity and advocacy to men’s mental health and community engagement — while all share the same purpose: advancing equity, strengthening connection, and expanding access to culturally rooted care.

Improve mental well-being and reduce disparities in Latinx communities through culturally sensitive services, education, and advocacy.

The Our Mental Health Collective Advocacy Committee is tasked to facilitate the growth of self-advocacy, community advocacy, and systems advocacy from an intentional and a liberatory lens. What does a liberatory lens mean? We look at advocacy as a means of both acknowledging and challenging oppression. We also hold that a collective desire to heal is what should be our guide in this moment.

To foster a strong community among men, encouraging genuine connection, mutual support, open dialogue about mental health, and shared growth through active engagement and welcoming outreach.

The Community Engagement Committee's purpose is to cultivate a vibrant, inclusive, and knowledgeable community. This is achieved by fostering connections through social events, increasing participation for all members, promoting cultural understanding and awareness, and providing educational and professional growth opportunities based on both expertise and lived experiences.
